Best Gift Ideas for Mom, MUM, GRANDMA, OR NANA
Look through the gift ideas for Mom and find the perfect gift for her. Below, you will find several categories of gifts (even gifts for the mom who has everything) that she will LOVE! Look through these DIY Fingerprint and Thumbprint Heart gift ideas for more ideas you can make for Mom.
Personalized DIY Jewelry Gifts for Mom:
I don’t know about you, but I am a total sucker for unique, one-of-a-kind jewelry and sentimental kid-made keepsakes. I’m that Mom whose eyes light up with joy as she unwraps a custom personalized gift carefully crafted by someone just for HER. So, my daughter and I have created an extensive collection of homemade gift ideas that are always a hit with friends and family.
For example, I LOVE my keepsake jewelry dish! One of my favorite pieces of jewelry to keep sitting inside it is a handmade thumbprint heart necklace with my daughter’s artwork encased in a gorgeous charm. I love to wear it on a long sparkling moon-cut chain. It’s the perfect gift for any mom or grandma!!
Another fun handmade necklace is a homemade mom or mum necklace that the kids can make for grandma or nana. Invite children to make a DIY mother-daughter jewelry gift set with matching necklaces or bracelets. Or, look at these Mother’s Day Crafts for even more fantastic DIY ideas.
Beautiful Personalized Necklaces to Buy for Mom:
I would love any of these personalized store-bought necklaces for Mom, and I’ll bet your Mom will, too!
- Family tree necklace with birthstones and names personalized gift for Mom
- Build your own bouquet birthmonth flower necklace for Mom
- Name necklace personalized for mom
My husband got my daughter and me this mother-daughter cut-out heart necklace jewelry set for Mother’s Day several years ago, which I still wear daily and get compliments on all the time. I also love this two-circle pendant necklace and tiny stacking name rings you can personalize with names, dates, or inspirational words. Yes, please!
Another item on my wishlist forever is a pair of diamond stud earrings. (My husband finally gifted them to me on our tenth wedding anniversary—I was thrilled. Thanks, honey—you are the best!) I don’t know many mothers (or wives) who wouldn’t love a lovely necklace, bracelet, or pair of earrings with a couple of gorgeous gems, diamond or not. Some of you don’t buy (or make) enough jewelry for the women in your life. But the good news is it’s never too late to start. Trust me. She will love it!
Warm, Comfy, and Cozy Gifts for Her:
Wrap mom up in this large tartan blanket scarf
and watch her drift away to happy land—a staple for every woman’s closet. And, if you want to make her swoon, gift her a 100% cashmere scarf or extra-large wrap. Both are like wearing a warm hug she will never want to take off.
I gave my mother the grey scarf for Mother’s Day because she lives where it is cold. Not only did she wear it every day, but she told me it was the best scarf she ever had because it went with everything and never got in the way. The long ends even stay put when you wrap it up. I own one myself and know firsthand how amazing it is, so I said, “That’s why I gave it to you, Mom.”
Best Robes and House Clothes for Her in Winter, Spring, Fall, and Summer:
Another item that has forever changed my home life is plush cotton robes and wool throw blankets—they each made nursing a newborn much more comfortable. Because I had my baby in the summer heat, I fell in love with this 100% short silk Kimono robe. There is also a longer-length silk robe that is equally amazing.
For the winter I recommend this cashmere robe, and this cashmere sweater
. I am totally and completely in love with wool and other natural fabrics, such as silk and linen, and I guarantee your mother will love them, too!
Booties and Slippers for Mom and Grandma:
A few years ago, I found a pair of booties like these sweater knit booties, which forever transformed my winter home life. I like going outside without ruining my slippers when grabbing something from the garden or the mailbox.
Since then, I have also fallen for these Acorn slouch boots and Haflinger clog slippers that are super cute and strong enough to run errands. Who needs shoes when you have slippers that are as functional as these? I guarantee Mom will want more than one pair!
Stylish Shoes and Comfortable Footwear for Moms:
If your mom is anything like mine, comfortable shoes you can wear for miles are an absolute MUST. As an ocean lifeguard, yoga instructor, and now a mother who has spent more of her life barefoot than anything, I’ve learned Mom was right all along. But unlike her, I also love stylish shoes and heels that I can wear for longer than five minutes when I want to dress up and go out on the town.
I was raised by a woman who wore nothing but Birkenstocks my whole life. True story. Even worse, she wore them with socks in the winter—how embarrassing! And yes, she also wore Levi’s and flannels and drove a Volkswagen Bus—lol! But that look is very much in vogue today, and I LOVE eating my words, especially now that she has passed and left me without a mother in physical form.
After avoiding them like the plague for over 30 years, I have changed my mind and fallen in love with their brand and all the footwear they offer. Birkenstocks (not affiliated) are the BEST! Today, I own several pairs of their sandals, wedges, and boots. Trust me when I tell you that she will love them, too!
Every Mom’s Must-Have Wardrobe Staple:
The wardrobe staple I love (and have worn more than anything I own since becoming a mom) is a vest. They are tough and packable, keep you warm when needed, have lots of fun pockets (trust me—moms need pockets), and pair well with everything!
Best of all, mom can easily dress a vest up or down. They are great for all occasions, whether running errands, heading to the park, keeping warm out on the town, going for a bike ride, hiking, or camping. A long-time favorite since my daughter was a baby and toddler, is a black down sweater vest by Patagonia (not affiliated).
I seriously don’t know how I ever lived without it. Today, I love wool vests because they can be worn indoors and outdoors, and they also make a comfy inner jacket layer for outdoor moms like me on cold days. I adore a few fantastic wool versions by Woolx, Ibex, and Icebreaker, and I guarantee your mom will love them, too.
Cute and Casual Gifts for Every Mom:
As a work-at-home mom and yoga teacher, I can’t do without my favorite yoga pants and my membership to Gaia Yoga (I’m not affiliated—I’m just sharing what I love). These crop yoga pants and capris are also a must-have in multiple colors for this mom.
However, since I first published this post in 2016, I have become obsessed with finding yoga pants and other everyday clothes made with wool and more sustainable natural fabrics instead of plastic fabrics like polyester and nylon.
I have always loved Lululemon and was an ambassador for their products as a yoga instructor and fitness professional, but today, I love wool leggings more. Not only are they as cute as they are stylish and comfortable, but they are better for HER. Leggings and other athletic wear made of sustainable or recycled products are better for the planet, mom, and, even more importantly, her children.
Best Leggings for Her:
A few wool brands that make leggings with natural fabrics strong enough to be used as running or yoga pants and joggers that can stand up to those crazy days with kids at the park are Woolx, Ibex, Icebreaker, Ridge, and Woolly.
They each have many fantastic yoga pants options that are not see-through and so comfortable that I never want to take them off. Just make sure you purchase the midweight and heavyweight options (not the thin base layers) so she can wear them as pants for a yoga class, hike, bike ride, to the office, and even out to dinner!
Every Day OuterWear For aLL SuperMoms:
If Mom likes cute and casual, she will love this cotton hoodie. I own three. They are fashionable, made to last with bells and whistles to keep warm on the go, and are fit to flatter anybody.
Another of my old favorites is the Osito Jacket.
It’s such a soft, comfy polar fleece sweater that Mom will never take it off! Each of these light jackets pairs nicely with a vest
, too.
But today, as mentioned above, I collect all my shirts, pants, sweatshirts, sweaters, and jackets in wool and other natural, more sustainable fabrics such as organic cotton, linen, silk, or rayons made from bamboo or beech trees. So my favorite outerwear today is the Sawyer Shacket by Woolx and the Heartfelt Hoody by Toad & Co.
Give Mom Clothes That Help Her Be a Part of the Change:
Ridge Merino, Woolx, Woolly, Ibex, Icebreaker, Toad & Co., Aran Sweaters, Wear Pact, Garnet Hill, Carve Designs, Carhartt, Orvis, Natural Life, Woolovers, and Pendleton are my go-to brands for shirts, skirts, dresses, sweaters, flannels, office, and workout wear, underwear, socks, jackets, coats, and outerwear options for women that all moms will love.
I encourage you to search their online stores for fantastic wardrobe, home, and lifestyle offerings. Each company mentioned is doing its best to be the change they wish to see in the world and has fashionable, cute, and super comfortable clothing for every kind of mom. And I promise your mom, grandma, aunt, sister, or wife will LOVE anything you choose.
Of course, check the product details before purchasing to keep them honest, and remember that our purchases and reviews are like casting a vote for the future we want to create for our children.
So, vote with your dollars and common sense by supporting any of these companies (and any others you find making changes to keep up with the needs of our time) when shopping for Mom. Or, even better, head to a local store or farmers market that sells quality clothes made with sustainable natural fibers and fabrics or recycled materials.
Gift Certificates for Mom:
Gift certificates are always a welcome option when unsure of colors or sizes. So, please give Mom a gift certificate to one of your favorite local stores or brands. Or one of the companies mentioned above that is doing its best to be a part of the change. Most Moms I know love a good reason to shop for themselves, so gift certificates are always a true gift!

Kitchen Gift Ideas for Mom:
The best thing that ever happened to me in the kitchen was when I found this cook-and-pour saucepan. Its intelligent design allows you to pour water out of the pan without losing its contents–no colander needed. The easy-pour lid makes it easy to steam vegetables and cook mac and cheese for the kids like a pro. I have two in my kitchen; we use them more than our stock pot and most other pans.
Then there’s cast iron cookware—Grandma knew it was the best, and my family is pretty sure of it, too. It’s heavy and takes some care, but the benefits of cast iron cooking make it more than worth it.
I recommend purchasing a few different sizes of skillets because one is never enough—we have six! A flat round griddle with a handle is also a lovely gift to add to mom’s collection of pots and pans for pancakes, grilled cheese, French toast, and quesadillas. And, of course, an enameled cast iron Dutch oven or two never hurts!
The kitchen gift on my current wish list is an Instant Pot. Can you believe I still don’t have one? I think it’s time to change that husband–lol!
Tea & Coffee Gift Ideas for the Kitchen:
Another of my favorite kitchen tools is an electric kettle with preset temperature options. I like to know that I am heating water to the correct temperature for the various teas I enjoy.
This durable cast iron teapot with a fully enameled interior is also one of my favorite kitchen items. The gradual heating from the cast iron infuses the most flavor from the tea leaves into the water, strengthening the taste and allowing the positive nutrients from the leaves to infuse into the water.
When I feel like a cup of coffee, I use this stainless steel French press with fresh ground organic coffee beans that I grind with this excellent little coffee grinder. Mmm–mmm, good! My husband accidentally broke several of our glass carafes for our French press, so after about the fourth break, we opted for a stainless steel press to replace them, and we love it even more! It’s double-walled and provides more insulation than glass for moms who often forget their morning cuppa. And my husband hasn’t broken a carafe in over four years!
And here’s an 18-oz coffee mug that mom will love—trust me, mom needs more than 12 ounces! So, try this gorgeous set of 21-oz mugs for mom. Or, give mom a reusable insulated coffee mug with a no-drip lid she can take with her and keep her drink of choice warm for hours. Scroll down to look at the gifts for mom on the go and see my other favorite reusable to-go mugs for coffee, tea, smoothies, and water!
Mixing and Blending Gifts for Mom in the Kitchen:
A Vitamix Blender isn’t cheap, but it is the best, and I finally got one for Christmas last year. I love it! As someone who likes to cook from scratch and make green smoothies daily, this must-have kitchen gift is finally off my wishlist. Thanks, honey!
Another kitchen item I once dreamed of but now own, thanks again to my loving husband, is a stand mixer. A stand mixer is powerful enough for nearly any task or recipe, whether stirring wet and dry ingredients together, kneading bread dough, or whipping cream. If your mom does not have one, it’s probably on her wish list, too.

Gift Ideas for Mom on the Go:
When on the go, there are four things I must have besides my wallet, favorite pair of sunglasses, phone, and keys on the keychain my daughter made for me:
- A nice-looking tote bag (my new favorite bag) for mom that works well whether at the park with the kids, shopping with friends, a day at the office, a soccer game, or date night, with lots of room for this and that. Or, a practical crossbody bag or purse for mom with easy-to-reach spots for her phone, keys, sunglasses, and a water bottle holder, too! And here’s an excellent small purse for those on-the-go minimalist days.
- This is a large reusable insulated mug with an extra cap for coffee or tea. It also works well for cold drinks!
- A stylish food-grade steel reusable water bottle. Trust me. Moms need lots of water on the go, especially when their tiny humans forget to bring theirs.
- The best lip stuff on earth! I was an ocean lifeguard for 20 years, meaning I have tried more than my fair share of Chapstick varieties. This lip stuff is my hands-down favorite because it’s the only one that can keep my lips feeling soft and supple morning, noon, and night indoors and out–year after glorious year. My one-and-only “true lip love!” It makes a great stocking stuffer for mom–Santa always seems to drop a few in mine! (Thanks again, husband!)

Relaxation Gift Ideas for Mom to Help Her Relieve Stress:
My favorite ways to relax and relieve stress are practicing yoga, bathing with homemade bath salts, coloring, getting outside in nature every day, curling up with a warm wool blanket, and reading my Kindle.
I don’t think I could survive motherhood without my Kindle–I can’t tell you how many books I have read one-handed while breastfeeding over the years. It even has a light so you can read in the dark without disturbing the snoring bear next to you on those nights you can’t sleep.
The warm glow and negative ions that a Himalayan Salt Lamp provides are also a must-have in our home. We have three in our house, and I STILL want another one! You will never need another night light again with these in your home.
Or, gift her with an authentic handmade Moroccan selenite crystal lamp. Pure gypsum crystal stone is said to remove toxic negative energy and cleanse and calm the mind. Selenite is a calming stone that can instill deep peace and is excellent for meditation or spiritual work.
Best Coloring Books and Supplies for Her:
Every mom should have at least one coloring book and a set of high-quality colored pencils, gel pens, or markers
to go with it. Coloring books and coloring tools make great stress-relieving gift ideas for moms!
- Good Vibes Coloring Book
- Floral Coloring Book
- Designs Stress Relief Coloring Book
- Life of the Wild Coloring Book
- Amazing Patterns Coloring Book
- Adult Coloring Book Super Set

Give Her a Spa Day or Weekend!:
Another favorite gift idea for mom is a gift certificate to spend the day at a local spa or a membership to a gym or yoga studio she’s been wanting to try. Even better–send her away to a resort for the weekend. I promise she will love you like she’s been gone for years when she returns.
Best Gifts for Mom, Grandma, Nana, or a Favorite Auntie
This list is FULL of favorite staples and must-haves that make great Mother’s Day, Christmas, and birthday gifts for mom. But please remember, the true magic of gift-giving lies not in the price tag or the perfection of presentation but in the thoughtfulness and love accompanying each gift for Mom. Whether you’ve opted for the rustic charm of a DIY creation or the polished allure of a store-bought gem, what matters most is the sparkle in Mom’s eyes when she opens it and realizes how adored she truly is.
As you embark on your quest to spoil Mom rotten on her special day, let your imagination run wild, your creativity soar, and your heart overflow with gratitude for the woman who has given you the world. It never matters to Mom if your gift is a handcrafted masterpiece or a carefully curated treasure, such as one of these Mother’s Day crafts. All that matters is that you share something just for her.
Let your gift reflect your boundless love and appreciation for the queen of your heart–MOM. Even if it’s only a heartfelt hug with an “I love you, Mom, thanks for everything.” Those simple words matter to her more than you will ever understand. Until the day you become a parent yourself, of course!
For Mom, Nothing Beats the Gift of YOU!:
Please remember, the most precious gift you can give Mom is the gift of your time, laughter, and the cherished moments spent together. While presents are lovely tokens of affection, never underestimate the power of a heartfelt hug, a shared laugh, or a quiet moment basking in each other’s company when gifts can not be made or acquired. These are the moments that make her day as unique as she is.
Here’s to you, Mom! Thank you for being a guiding light, a source of unwavering support, and the epitome of love and grace. May your special day be as radiant and beautiful as you are. I hope it is filled with love, laughter, and the joy of knowing how deeply you are loved and cherished. I hope you enjoyed this fantastic list of gifts for your Mom or Mum.
