"All these wonderful ideas make me realize how much I love teaching and sharing my own love of learning and sense of wonder upon discovering something that really jazzes me! So many thanks!!"
— Gerri G.
My goal is to make parenting, educating children, and life, in general, a bit less chaotic and a lot more fun--hence the name Rhythms of Play.
In music, rhythm is the framework used to organize notes to create a harmonious whole. Rhythm is also the magical force or energy (prana, chi) that keeps our hearts beating, our breath moving in and out, the sun rising and setting, and the seasons changing year after year.
We can also use rhythm to manage the to-do list, build healthy habits, achieve goals, and care for and educate children. If children learn through play, and rhythms are the habits and routines that we complete daily and weekly, think of parenthood as the time we spend guiding our children through the rhythms of their youth--Rhythms of Play.
If life is a school--the world is our playground!
"Thank you, Nell! I love your website and have gotten so many great ideas for my kids reading each of your wonderful posts."
— Bettie M.
My daughter is my inspiration and the child growing up in the images and videos throughout this website. She is also the creative child bravely demonstrating how to do various projects (such as our fingerprint art magnets) in most photo and video tutorials for our art, craft & DIY projects. She inspires me daily to become a better person and helps me come up with new activities and creative projects to try.
Unless otherwise stated, each of the art, craft, and DIY tutorials on Rhythms of Play are created, photographed, filmed, and edited by myself Nell Regan (Kartychok), my husband Nick Kartychok, and our daughter Charlize Kartychok.
I enjoyed several job titles before I became a mother including; au pair (nanny), child-care specialist, teacher, sports coach, personal trainer, life coach, yoga instructor, therapist, and even ocean lifeguard.
But out of all the dream jobs I've had, my favorite by far, is educating children and helping people achieve their highest potential. Which, for me, is ultimately the same thing. Even though working as a real-life Baywatch babe for 20 summers was fun--inspiring people of all ages to be the best they can be is even more rewarding!
I am a student for LIFE and love learning! I am always reading, researching, and taking courses for my personal and professional development. "The moment you stop learning is the moment you start dying." I earned each of the degrees and certifications listed below under my maiden name--Nell Regan.
I Never thought that I would be organized enough to attempt an art project with my kids... Not only did I manage to try one of your fab ideas, I actually enjoyed myself! Thank you, Nell, for doing what you do and doing it so well!
