There is nothing better for baby’s development than eco-friendly toys made from natural materials. Wooden toys and other toys made of natural materials provide a rich sensory experience for the developing child. These eco-friendly toys for toddlers boost development naturally.
My husband and I were determined to stay away from conventional plastic toys as much as possible and instead looked for organic and eco-friendly green toys made by companies we could stand behind. We like to vote with our dollars and sense around our house.
We looked for eco-friendly toys that we both liked and also met the many developing needs of our daughter. Our family is particularly fond of Waldorf, Montessori, and Reggio Emilia inspired toys. We found some great toys made by some eco-friendly companies, with most being made in places other than China — yeah! We hope you enjoy them as much as we do!

Studies show that music is beneficial for critical cognitive development in children. Imagine a thick forest with no clear pathways through it – this is like the developing brain of a child. Now visualize the pathway being forged, neurologically, every time you musically interact with your child. The “music channel” is similar to the “language channel” in that it needs to be stimulated every day in order to grow and be strong.
3. Green Toys Dump Truck (12 months +)
Made in the USA from 100 percent recycled plastic milk containers, this award-winning, eco-designed toy truck has no metal axles and a workable dumper that encourages motor skill development. 4. Wishbone 3 in 1 Original Bike (12 months +)
Unlike any other running bikes, the Wishbone bike evolves with a child’s different stages of development. It starts at age 1 as a trike, converts to a running bike as the child grows, and by four to five years old, the wishbone frame is flipped, making the Wishbone Bike one of the largest running bikes on the market. With it’s environmentally sustainable design and innovative 3-bikes-in-1 feature, this really is the ultimate pre-bike.

Plan Preschool toys are suitable for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers and are designed to enhance child development during these years. All Plan Toys are made using chemical free, kiln-dried recycled rubberwood and designed with water based non-toxic colors as accent.
My daughter loves this toy! While the wheel turns, the wooden ball inside hits the panels and creates a sound not nearly as the popper I used as a child. I actually like it because its soft melody lets me know where she’s roaming. I love that this toy can be anything your child imagines it to be. My daughter vacuums, mows the lawn, and rides her song horse–haha!

This toy has durable child safe paint finish and eco-friendly solid wood construction.
Use the wand(with safe, breakaway cord) to guide each colored marble into the turtle’s matching section of shell. This quietly wonderful travel toy builds coordination, dexterity, concentration, and problem-solving skills while reinforcing color recognition. This turtle maze is made of wood and plywood, finished with non-toxic, water-based paint, and capped with a transparent, acrylic top.
We keep this in our car. It is fantastic for travel because the pieces are contained. I’m amazed at how deeply my daughter can focus while playing with this toy.

Each doll’s skin and clothing are 100% organic cotton (Oeko-Tex certified), and each has quartz sand in the base to allow them to stand upright without support. Also available in a Set of Rainbow Dwarfs with beards.
You’ll notice that Waldorf dolls have minimal facial features and just a hint of an expression. This allows the child to use their imagination and inner picturing capacities. A Waldorf doll can easily be imagined to be happy or sad, laughing or crying, unlike more conventional dolls with rigid plastic faces and fixed expressions.
I love these little dolls as much as my daughter does. She carries them around with her everywhere talking to them and having them do things — so cute!

Dollhouses inspire a child’s imagination. They also promoting their physical and intellectual development. The green dollhouse with furniture is an amazing, energy conscious inspiration. The energy-efficient design includes a wind turbine, a solar cell panel, and an electric inverter for generating electricity, a rain barrel for collecting rain. There is also a bio facade, which uses the natural cycle of plant growth to provide shading, and a blind that can adjust to the amount of sunlight and air circulation. Recycling bins are also included with the house. This dollhouse also comes with furniture for five rooms: Living room, kitchen, bathroom, children’s bedroom and master bedroom.
This sweet little car and train set can connect directly to Thomas, Brio, Leggo and other popular sets. It is toddler safe and made with eco-friendly wood. It encourages group play, creative thought, manual dexterity, and sharing. The best thing about this track is the versatility.
